    SCHOFIELD CO INC - Baltimore, MD was founded in 1903 by Frank M, Schofield as Baltimore Silversmiths Mfg Co. The name was changed to Heer-Schofield Co. in 1905 and to Frank M,. Schofield Co. in 1928. In the 1930s, the name was changed to Schofield Co. Inc. After his death in 1947, the business was run by Frank's wife Berthe until 1965 until the company was bought by Oscar Caplan & Sons. The company was bought by Stieff Co. in 1967. In addition to hallmark, the piece is marked with "C. KATTELMANN," a German-born jeweler operating in Washington, DC in the late 19th century. A unique piece of Baltimore-DC history.
