DescriptionExquisite antique French sterling silver 2-piece set of dessert servers comprising of a strawberry spoon and sugar sifter in the Neo-gothic "Fer de Lance" pattern by PUIFORCAT, circa 1890. Decorated on both sides with bas-relief Fer de Lance (spearhead) and foliate motifs. This design was said to have been inspired by ironwork and medieval weaponry. A lovely engraved motif of Renaissance style foliage adorns the bowl of the strawberry spoon, the sugar sifter with a finely pierced bowl. The back of the service ends with a spearhead detail. Each piece is hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard silver mark (.950), and maker's mark for renowned Parisian silversmith Emile PUIFORCAT, who commenced trading in 1857. In good condition with general light signs of use and age. The strawberry spoon is 9 1/8" length x 3 5/8" wide bowl. The sugar sifter measures 8 1/8" length x 2 3/8" wide bowl. Total silver weight is 178 grams.
