J.E. Caldwell & Co Sterling Silver 1848's Vegetable Serving Fork and SpoonThis is a J.E. Caldwell & Co sterling silver serving fork and spoon which was from my mothers estate. These were lightly polished to bring out the luster. No monogram and in very good vintage condition conducive with age and use and is marked J.E. Caldwell & Co. Add to your existing formal sterling silver flatware, this classic and understated pieces.
Measures approx.: serving fork: 8” and serving spoon: 8"
History:
The company was founded at 163 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, by watchmaker James Emmot Caldwell in 1839. In 1843 the firm became the partnership of Bennett & Caldwell, then in 1848 was renamed J.E. Caldwell & Co. It produced its own silverware until the early 1850s.
