Description
Custom polishing and restoration featuring professionally restored sterling flatware"Grecian" pattern by Gorham, circa 1861,
8 3/4" long
Coin silver serving spoon, monogram F, gold vermeil inner bowl, weighing 63.2 grams.
Coin mark, Patent 1861 mark, Haddock, Lincoln & Foss mark.
Henry Haddock, Albert L. Lincoln and Charles Foss produced silver flatware in Boston, MA from 1857-1868. This early coin silver spoon is a Gorham pattern dating to 1861 and is the only example I've seen without the Gorham mark.
Starting in excellent condition with very light use marks overall, pattern detail and gold vermeil inner bowl are also excellent with little to no wear.
No removals and no damage issues. Dark areas in photos are reflections.
This spoon is a wonderful example of seldom used and well cared for Civil War era coin silver.
The final finish is medium luster antique with pattern patina. Ultrasonic cleaned, lightly hand cleaned with Goddards silver polishing foam and ready for table service.
