Interesting Nautical Map (U.S. Navy Issue)
Charting a Voyage from New York
to Recife, Brazil and Back
There is no name or date on the map, unfortunately.  However, the map itself was issued by the U.S. Navy's Hydrographic Office.  According to online sources, "The office was abolished on 10 July 1962, replaced by the Naval Oceanographic Office."  Since it stands to reason that someone planning an intercontinental voyage probably obtained the most recent map (rather than relying on an old one), the voyage must have taken place no later than 1962 -- as it still bears the emblem of the Hydrographic Office.
The path in red
is the outbound voyage, marked with dates from "July 22" to "[Aug.] 26," and
the path in black
is the return voyage: "[Sep.] 8" to "[Oct.] 6 ... of whatever year it was.
If you find this map interesting, I ALSO have an eBay listing for 2 Brazilian beer labels (from Recife, specifically) that came from the same estate ... most likely souvenirs of this daring voyage.  I can combine shipping IF YOU CONTACT ME BEFORE YOU PAY.

CONDITION:
The map is in wonderful vintage condition.  It has been stored folded up, so there are creases and some age toning.  There's a small edge tear in one place, as pictured.
