    Description

    Here is this very beautiful and rare early to mid 20th century antique sterling silver Egyptian revival spoon . It weighs 13.8 grams and measures just a tiny bit over 5 inches . It has so much going on please study the photos carefully and see first of all the Sphinx has a human face with a crooked nose , all three pyramids have fine detailed and the largest is three-dimensional showing just a sliver of its side seen under magnification and the entire scene sits in a border of 21 stars around the perimeter of the spoon portion . On the other end there is a green enameled alligator and two longnecked birds , then the blue enamel that goes down the middle stops right where the chevron pattern changes on the neck of the spoon however the blue enamel may have originally continued all the way down the neck ? and there is one tiny chip in the blue enamel seen in the photos , its very difficult to tell even under magnification but it looks as if the makers intention was to stop the blue enamel right where the Chevron patterns end on the neck of the spoon . It has been carefully examined under magnification and appears to have never had markings on the back but it has been professionally tested here as around 950 pure silver . Having owned thousands of antique spoons this one of the most amazing ever .Please study the photos and use them as your best description , this is simply a magnificent antique spoon ready to be added to someone's collection .   ...
