DescriptionAntique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver 16-piece fish flatware set. An exquisite service for 8 comprising of forks and knives finished with mother of pearl handles embellished with elegant silver ferrules and terminals. Bearing shield shaped cartouches monogrammed with interlaced initials AJ. The forks and the knife blades are fully hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark indicating .950/1000 silver, (of 95% silver and a higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Maker's marks for silversmith Georges Fouquet-Lapar, active from 1897 to 1925, his workshop was located at located at 25 Rue de Choiseul in Paris. He was the son-in-law and successor to the silversmith Leon Lapar. In overall very good antique with general wear commensurate with use. The knives measures 8 3/8" length, the forks are 7 7/8" length. Total weight is 831.2 grams.
