    Description

2000-9 September WESTERN MIGRATION 1841-1869 National Geographic Map
An excellent study of the early pathfinders (pre-1840) and the later western migration into the heartland of the United States and beyond during the 1841-1868 period. One-side of this study is titled “the Pathfinders” and traces the individual routes of Lewis & Clark, Fremont, Pike, Smith, Kearny, Ogden, Young, and others from St. Louis westward from the late 1700's to 1846. The reverse-side titled “Western Migration” traces the routes that the settlers traveled starting in the mid-1800's. Two maps, one on each side, shows the routes, with colored relief indicating land elevations, with narrative giving historic information and written comments from travelers in that era.
    Map is approximately 22” x 35”.
The National Geographic is known for it's fine maps & detailed information.
Supplement to the National Geographic Magazine; magazine is not included.
